Club Members Seeking Employment
The primary goal of the University of Michigan Club of Portland
is to provide a foundation for social, scholastic, and financial networking among local UM alumni. One of the ways
to achieve this is to try connecting alumni looking for employment with local employers
that appreciate the quality and leadership of individuals who have graduated from
the University of Michigan.

I'm an experienced young architect in mixed use, multi-family residential, retail, office, and single family residential architecture. Having graduated from the TCAUP with my MArch in May of 2010, I've spent my time since then volunteering consultation services to IDEA Space Seattle, helping small business successfully navigate their spaces' designs and code issues as well as working on the development for Design Guidelines of Little Saigon.
My greatest architectural passions involve the highest level of detail and I would like to continue that exploration in design-build focused on single family and retail / restaurant T.I.s. I have experience in project management, with my single family work completed thus far as an independent professional.
Now in Portland, I am attracted to the high level of thoughtful work especially in the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. As a broad range designer with a far reaching skill set and introductory training in the real estate development side of our field, I would be very happy to entertain the idea of alternative career paths. Contact information is found on the attached resume, and my website at www.richardrano.com.
Hope to be making some new acquaintances soon — Rich. |

I am a recent graduate from the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning, having received my Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2011. I will be relocating to Portland in several weeks to immerse myself in the progressive urban policies and high quality of urban design in the city, as well as abundant natural beauty that permeates the region. My applicable and employable skills include graphic design, computer rendering, digital fabrication, and wood and metal working. I am primarily seeking employment and internship development in the field of architectural design, however my interests include related fields such as landscape architecture, urban planning and design, and public policy. The interdisciplinary design culture of the city is something from which I hope to learn, and is ultimately the reason for my relocation. Thank you for your time and consideration. |
